Being a bridesmaid is such an honor during a wedding. It means that the bride selected you to be the person that she trust and depends on during this wedding. That is major deal! Bridesmaids sometime forget how big of a honor it is and tend to act up. Don't be that bridesmaid that the bride talks about after the wedding. Here are some pointers on how to be the perfect bridesmaid for your friend.
#1.) Be on Time!
If you are late, sometimes people think that you don't care. So if the bride says to be there at 10:00 am for your hair appointment, be there. This is hard to do for some, but just remember someday it will be your big day and you are going to want your girls there on time.
#2.) Be Patient!
Brides are continually changing their minds. Even though you know they will go back to their first choice, be sure to encourage them and be patient with the selection process. This even goes for picture time. Pictures take a long time, but your bride is depending on you to be patient with this process and to always have a smile on your face. ( even with those huge high heels on, that are killing your feet :( )
#3.) Be Honest, but not too honest!
It is always hard when shopping for bridesmaid dresses. I know you are going to be the one wearing the dress, but remember the bride is suppose to be the star not you. Be willing to give your opinion but make sure the bride leaves happy and you leave with what she picked.
#4.) Be classy!
Remember that you represent the bride! So at the reception be sure to be on your best behavior. You are still being looked at by the bride and her guest so be sure to have fun, but not too much fun.
Weddings are such a joyous time and because of bridesmaids that bride feels even joy. So today, I am going to close with you all a poem that spoke to me when I was selecting my bridesmaids.
"In life there are old friends and those who are new
when choosing a bridesmaid
it had to be you
from the moment we met you've been the friend
close by with a shoulder to lend
so I thank you for all your help and
conversation filled days and all that I've learned
without you I
don't know what I would have done
certainly not had as much fun
there are old friends and those who are new
but none like the true friend
I've found in you" - Anonymous
